Thursday saw Refurbishment Centre Manager Michael away from his workbench in Argyll and at alternative Glasgow venue Argyle St Arches, but he wasn't there for a gig or the street food the industrial venue is known for hosting, he was there to talk business; more specifically, he was there to talk circular economy (one of our favourite topics!)
Invited to talk to event attendees alongside other local circular economy adoptors by Circular Glasgow (an initiative of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce) Michael presented an elevator pitch to the room before hosting three smaller 20 minute workshops discussing our business, the idea behind the refurbishment and remanufacture of parts and the challenges that we have faced along the way. There was also a fascinating on-stage a panel discussing Glasgow's ambition to become a circular city by cutting waste and re-using resources.
The event 'Circular Glasgow: Get Inspired' formed part of a series of similar such days taking place throughout the year including the Circular Economy Hotspot Scotland we attended in October. The events have all been designed to aid Glasgows circular ambitions by informing businesses about existing circular economy schemes and connecting companies from across the city. They further aim to encourage enterprises of all sizes to embrace a circular economy approach to future-proof their business, help them to open up new revenue streams, increase competitive advantage and realise financial savings using a range of practical initiatives.
