The Scottish Green Energy Awards (SGEA) is the most highly-anticipated event in the Scottish renewable energy industry’s calendar. Organised by Scottish Renewables, the event is held annually and unites more than 1,200 industry professionals for an evening of celebrating the very best in renewables. With 13 different award categories, SGEA recognises the extraordinary people, organisations and communities going above and beyond to shape the industry’s future.
This year was Renewable Parts first year attending the black-tie event held last night at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, and we were thrilled to be finalists in two categories. The efforts of our newly opened Renewable Parts Refurbishment Centre were recognised as it reached the finals of the Carbon Reduction Award, a category designed to celebrate ‘the outstanding deployment of renewable energy by a non-energy business, charity or public body, reducing the organisation or site’s carbon footprint’. After winning the Business Development Award at The Young Professionals Green Energy Awards 2018, our Operations Director Fred Pullar was also a finalist in the SGEA Young and Inspiring category.
The calibre of nominees was staggering and whilst we didn’t win this year it was an honour to be nominated and we thoroughly enjoyed our first soiree into the SGEA’s. We’d like to offer a huge congratulations to all finalists and winners of each category. We’d also like to thank those who accepted an invitation to our table and helped make the night so special. It’s truly inspiring to see so many professionals from a diverse range of businesses and projects all doing their bit to advance the renewables industry and promote renewable sources of energy to fight climate change in Scotland, and on a wider scale.
